Nvidia, Corning Partner to Expand US AI Manufacturing Network
(MENAFN) US technology company Nvidia and materials science firm Corning have announced a long-term partnership aimed at significantly increasing domestic manufacturing capacity for optical technologies used in artificial intelligence infrastructure.
Under the agreement, Corning plans to expand its US optical connectivity production capacity by ten times while also increasing domestic fiber manufacturing by more than 50%, according to a joint statement from the companies.
The initiative includes the development of three advanced manufacturing facilities in North Carolina and Texas. The companies said the expansion is expected to create more than 3,000 high-paying jobs across the United States.
The new manufacturing capabilities will support optical connectivity systems designed for hyperscale data centers using Nvidia-powered AI computing platforms. As AI workloads continue to grow, companies are requiring increasingly large numbers of graphics processing units and faster methods for transferring data between systems.
The partnership focuses on high-performance fiber optics, photonics, and connectivity technologies intended to handle the massive data demands associated with next-generation AI infrastructure.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang described AI development as “the largest infrastructure buildout of our time” and said the collaboration would help strengthen US manufacturing and supply chains. He added, “Together with Corning, we are inventing the future of computing with advanced optical technologies — building the foundation for AI infrastructure where intelligence moves at the speed of light while advancing the proud tradition of Made in America.”
Corning Chairman and CEO Wendell Weeks said Nvidia’s involvement is directly supporting the company’s domestic manufacturing expansion. According to Weeks, “This partnership is proof that AI is not just a technology story. It is a manufacturing story, and it is happening here in the United States.”
